Scottsdale’s Advanced Water Treatment (AWT) Plant is one of the largest and most advanced water recycling facilities in the world. Recently named one of the world’s most innovative water purification projects, Scottsdale has been a leader in Indirect Potable Reuse for over 24 years.  In 2019, Scottdale’s Water Campus became the first treatment facility in Arizona (and one of three in the nation) to be permitted for Direct Potable Reuse and producing drinking water for demonstration purposes. This was a landmark achievement and represented a major advancement in the potential for alternative drinking water sources in Arizona.
